After enjoying the essential Japan of Tokyo and Kyoto, journey on to Ine, where boathouses float on the sea, to Amanohashidate, one of Japan's Three Scenic Views, and to Miyama, a village of thatched-roof houses. Over these 10 days, you'll go beyond sightseeing to discover local life, food, and the people of each region.
A quiet fishing village where funaya (traditional boathouses) line Ine Bay. Amanohashidate, where a pine-lined sandbar stretches as if crossing the sea. Miyama, where thatched-roof houses remain. Unlike the vibrant streets of central Kyoto, this is another Kyoto, to be explored at a leisurely pace.
The value of this journey isn’t in visiting more places. It’s in viewing the boathouse town from the water, savoring local food, and touching traditional ways of life — taking one step deeper into Japan after the essential journey.
